Action Against Stalking Partnership with the Rosey Project

We are partnering up with the Rosey Project to help raise awareness of stalking and the utilisation of technology as a means to commit such behaviours.

The aim is to inform young people and others to be mindful of what they share online and to be cautious of who can see their information, whether it is private or accessible to all.

Some individuals can become fixated on a person to the extent that they use your posts to map out your routine, your usual places of leisure or comfort, to monitor and stalk you.

The impact that stalking can have on a person’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being is especially important, and leaves victims with long-lasting adverse impacts.

Together, we have created a video campaign to showcase this and raise the alarm with the hopes that viewers will be mindful of the information they share online.

You can watch the video here.

Below are some tips you can implement to stay safe online:

Ø  Only accept friend requests from people you know.

Ø  Always check your app’s privacy settings.

Ø  Do not post in real-time.

Ø  Do not share or limit the personal information you wish to share.

Ø  When posting with friends, ask if they are comfortable being ‘tagged’ as you may not always know their circumstances.

Ø  Ensure that passwords are regularly updated.
