If ‘To Catch a Stalker’ Hits Home, Know You’re Not Alone

The BBC's two-part docuseries ‘To Catch a Stalker’ premiered in early July 2025, in the UK. Hosted by reality star Zara McDermott, the show features ‘women who have become targets of dangerous obsessions’.

This series plays a crucial role in highlighting stalking behaviours and their effects on victims. Some women shared their experiences of relocating, while others implemented security measures such as cameras and locks, and many described how this crime has impacted their families.

One thing was evident: every victim faced psychological repercussions, leaving them anxious about their safety and affecting every facet of their lives.

The show also delved into the criminal justice system's response to stalking and the shortcomings of the institutions meant to safeguard the public.

While it authentically presented the victims' voices, there was a lack of support resources mentioned throughout the two episodes. This included missed chances to promote a helpline at the conclusion of each episode, guiding viewers on where to seek help.

As a charity, we want to emphasise that stalking is unacceptable in our society, and it is vital that we listen to and support victims to prioritise their safety.

At Action Against Stalking, we provide free, professional, and confidential assistance to those facing stalking.
